Leaked Game Informer Preview Reveals First Elder Scrolls Online Details
By: Jasmine Henry | May 4th 2012
Just last night MMOFan.com reported that Bethesda had officially confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online is in development. We also stated that our first big clues as to what the Elder Scrolls universe-based MMO would entail when the June issue of GameInformer, which features the game as its cover story, hit newsstands.
The plan was, of course, to have everyone rush out and buy the popular games magazine to find all about what The Elder Scrolls Online has in store for us, but that hit a bit of a snag this morning when the entirety of the Elder Scrolls Online GameInformer preview was leaked online, screenshots, details and all.
We are legally obliged to refrain from posting the leaked Elder Scrolls Online images, due to copyright infringement, but we've chosen the best bits of important Elder Scrolls Online related text for you to read below.
-The Elder Scrolls Online art style can be described as 'cartoony'
-The focus is on being the "best MMO ever made" and so to ensure that, the big focus is on limiting lag.
-No real-time combat.
-Classes and levels will be a big selling point (though Bethesda are apparently setting the game up so that you can't master all classes and become a behemoth of power).
-The Elder Scrolls Online will be played from a third-person viewpoint.
-No player housing, as opposed to the case with the last two single-player Elder Scrolls games (Oblivion and Skyrim).
-The Elder Scrolls Online is not being developed by the teams behind Oblivion and Skyrim, and is instead being worked on by the Zenimax Online team (Zenimax being Bethesda's parent company) and big dcisions are being led by Matt Firor, the man with a plan who was behind the MMO, Dark Age of Camelot.
-Players of The Elder Scrolls Online will be divided between three different factions, these being - the Ebonheart Pact in the north-east (nords, dark elves, argonians); the Aldmeri Dominion in the south (high elves, wood elves, khajiit); and the Daggerfall Covenant who hail form the north west (bretons, redguards, orcs).
-The Elder Scrolls Online is set in Tamriel, with pared down versions of Skyrim, Morrowind, Summerset Isle and Elsewyr all being included and available to explore.
-PvP battlefields of 100 vs 100 men, as well as special PvP arenas, will be included.
-The game will also include dungeon exploring.
-In The Elder Scrolls Online, the main aim is to win the Imperial City and put the leader of you faction (which will be an actual player) on the throne.
-Battle in the game hinges on stamina.
-Player parties can be made up of 5 people, with mixed ability groups being more effective as players of different classes can work together in unique, powerful ways.
-Several of the classic Elder Scrolls brotherhoods - the Fighters, Mage and Thieves guild, as well as the Dark Brotherhood - all being available for you to join in The Elder Scrolls Online.
-Your world will be different to other people's, as it changes depending on which sections of story that you have completed.
Those are perhaps the most 'need to know' facts about the game but we'll keep you updated, so you'll want to keep visiting MMOFan.com for the latest news on The Elder Scrolls Online.
