Considering that free to play games are one of the most highly lucrative, newly emerging game genres, it is, perhaps, no surprise to anyone that Ubisoft have revealed that they are working on their own foray into the incredibly successful free to play MMO market.
Their newly announced game, titled Silent Hunter Online, is classed as a free to play browser MMO and is inspired by their submarine simulation franchise, Silent Hunter.
In development by Ubisoft Blue Byte, a Ubisoft development studio that worked on the entire Silent Hunter game series, Silent Hunter Online will provide a "large array of historically accurate submarines".
As the captain of one of these realistic subs, you will be battling it out in the "Battle for the Atlantic", which, despite being a plot point ripped straight from the story of the most recent Silent Hunter game, Silent Hunter 5, is being described by Ubisoft and the dev team as "dynamic" - which can only mean that it is directly affected by you and your fellow Silent Hunter Online players' actions.
Fans of the other Silent Hunter games who are a little wary of how Silent Hunter Online will fit into the series needn't worry as Christopher Schmitz, Head of Production at Ubisoft Blue Byte says that "[Silent Hunter Online] is the most innovative Silent Hunter experience ever created and we canÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂt wait to let our fans dive into the game", illustrating perfectly that they are very much catering to fans of the Silent Hunter Online predecessors.
The Silent Hunter Online closed beta is now up and running, click here to visit the Silent Hunter Online website and find out how you can sign-up.
