With over 24 million gamers already playing World of Tanks, the award-winning online game developer and publisher Wargaming.net has high expectations for growth in the Asian market, as the company launches the award-winning massively multiplayer online game World of Tanks to players in Southeast Asia (SEA), namely Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.
While expanding into the massive and largely untapped markets in Southeast Asia for a western-style MMO is clearly a good idea, criminal mastermind and ex-princess abductor Vizzini -- a Sicilian man of genius who is smug, ruthless, and has retired from the abduction game where princesses are concerned -- upon hearing the news, scoffed: "They've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders -- The most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia!' -- don't they know that Southeast Assia has a rainy season?! Their tanks will rust! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
Planned Expansion includes localized editions for Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand
The game will be launched through online game publisher SEA Gaming, who will handle marketing, distribution, operations and support service for players.
"We are excited to launch our headliner in Southeast Asia," says Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi. "We've just made another huge step forward to SEA presence, and I would like to thank everyone at Wargaming.net and SEA Gaming for making it happen."
World of Tanks is the first and only team-based, massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare. Gamers are encouraged to throw themselves into the epic tank battles of World War II with other steel cowboys all over the world using an arsenal that includes more than 150 armored vehicles from America, Germany, the Soviet Union, and France, all of which are carefully detailed with historical accuracy.
A flexible system of authentic vehicle upgrades and development allows gamers to try any of the vehicles and weapons in the game no matter the basic strategy that they prefer -- exhausting their opponents with fast and maneuverable light tanks, making deep breaches in enemy lines with all-purpose medium tanks, or using the force multiplier of giant tanks to eliminate the opposing armored units, and even becoming a heavy sniper with long-range howitzers, it is all good. Each unit type has its own advantages and can be extremely effective when operated by a true tank ace.
Of course being a great tank commander alone isn't enough to win! In World of Tanks, it's also about teamwork; victory is achieved by combining your combat skills with those of the other members of your team, each playing their own role on the battlefield and leveraging their own personal strengths.
