Paradox Interactive Now Accepting Beta Applicants for Salem
By: Jeff Davis | Mar 23rd 2012
Paradox Interactive and Seatribe have announced the opening of Beta sign-ups for the upcoming New World-era Massively Multiplayer Online game Salem. Developed by Seatribe, Salem is set in a time when pilgrims were the norm and the frontier was still the greatest risk to a persons health.
Salem is a unique core gaming experience for MMO players and crafting enthusiasts, known best for its Permadeath mechanic where in-game characters can easily succumb to even the most extreme realities of the colonial American wilderness. Interested Beta testers can sign up on the official beta website, and signups will not be limited to the extent that we know of.
"Weve been getting Beta requests from gamers since we announced Salem and its great to finally be able to let people into the beta testing," said lead game designer Björn Johannessen. "Weve chosen to keep the sign up completely open, the more the merrier, and will do our best to listen to all feedback we get."
Salem will be entirely free-to-play, and will enter full release sometime in Q3 2012. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on the following "Developer Diary" preview:
