RUMOUR : Bethesda to Reveal Elder Scrolls MMO in May
By: Jasmine Henry | Mar 16th 2012
Yes, breathe, hold onto your chair and do your best to stay calm.
It's yet unconfirmed by anyone at Bethesda but the Internet is all a flutter with strongly supported rumours and reports that Bethesda will announce the Elder Scrolls MMO (rumoured to be titled 'Elder Scrolls Online') in May.
Speaking to tech blog Tom's Guide , an anonymous source, from within the depths of Bethesda and their parent company ZeniMax, told them that the Elder Scrolls MMO would be set over 1000 years before Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim, meaning that it will be set during the "Second Era", several hundred years before any of the other Elder Scrolls games.
The Elder Scrolls Online MMO rumour is given further credence by the fact that ZeniMax have previously posted several job listings (here , here and here )
Although a lot of people are suggesting date of the 'big reveal' will be some time May, I think that it's a lot more likely for Bethesda to hold off until the massive games conference that is E3, which takes place in Los Angeles in June - a May announcement gives reporters and journos too much time to dig up details on the yet-unannounced MMO, ruining the info drop that Bethesda will no doubt release at the event.
ZeniMax are staying shtum with a simple "no comment" in regards to the story but make sure to visit MMOFan.com daily, we'll keep you posted on any developments in the story.
EDITORIAL UPDATE (3/5/2012): Bethesda has indeed confirmed The Elder Scrolls Online, and exactly in line with the schedule that we first reported to boot.
